about

Sarah studied drawing, painting, pastel, and printmaking from a young age. In 1994, at Memphis College of Art, her attention shifted to metal, and she began creating pieces in bronze, copper, silver, and gold. She later studied specialized techniques in hollowware and jewelry for three years at the Appalachian Center for Craft, which lead to an interest in blacksmithing. Sarah has forged decorative and functional iron art pieces such as gates, fencing, utensils, furniture, and sculpture - even Damascus steel knives. In 2000 she returned to Memphis to complete a BFA in Metal.

Sarah has professionally produced the designs of many other metal artists. Most recently, she was a jeweler for a successful company that sells 14-18 karat gold designs at Saks, Barney’s, Fred Segal, and over 100 international boutiques.

In January 2005, Stamatia Jewelry Design was born. Ready for the challenge, Sarah began producing the first line of her own to bring to market. With the success of private trunk shows she was able to build this online gallery.

"I am excited to have a place to offer my unique jewelry designs to the public. The online boutique is the perfect vehicle in which to explore and express my ideas in metal. I am constantly sketching and fabricating new designs which will enable not only my own artistic growth, but allow the website to evolve and expand as well."
